The whole project efforts were dived into 1/3rd DBA work and 2/3rd Development work. We also interconnected and maintained user access to more than two dozen SQL Servers for both application and Backup/ restore activities. Maintaining these SQL servers is a critical factor as these store the entire database of the customers and other internal data’s for consumption. This includes maintaining multi-server links, DTC, delegation and other advanced security issues; as well as performance management on structures such as indexes and queries, and strategic data location and movement. Also included are setup, maintenance and use of multiple Reporting Services, SSIS and Analysis Services servers.
This enabled CBR to achieve highly efficient and robust report generation system which gave an easy access to reports from the Microsoft Dynamics GP with Drilldown actions, open reports within reports, Chart options, customization and flexible report view and gives capability for tailor made reports.
The other accomplishment was to create a Multi- GB Database and supporting code that acquires, maintains and operationally manage (7x24) 20+ tables of Siebel Production data for analysis and reporting purposes. To maintain up to data information the DB was designed to run in few seconds for each hour. This enables all the customer and sales information are up to date and can be consumed by the Sales, marketing, operations and 3rd party access etc without locking and blocking the large number of data flow to and from the Siebel services and interfaces. Our development work enabled full set of field sales operations reports for 50+ national field sales personnel and their management and support specialists accessible and customizable to the management of various levels to make better business decisions. This included setting up and maintaining the organizational data—territories, regional groupings and relationships—as well as the “payoff results” of their efforts: sales call metrics, rankings of efforts, quotas, actual sales and other pertinent data. Extensive SQL and VS.NET coding is used in data preparation and presentation.
Development effort included “meshing” the company internal GL and invoicing requirements with Siebel information displays. We interview the account personnel to understand the current invoicing structure. We analyzed the prototyping, pre-production runs and the design and found it to be time consuming, unstructured and multi-person staff effort. We provided a solution that replaced the existing manual invoice (line-by-line) key-ins (multi-person staff effort) with data gleaned from Siebel production tables on customer sales and services provided. This data is restructured and enhanced to drive invoice verification and printing, and the subsequent posting to the GL itself. The completed invoicing (invoice IDs, dates, and amounts) and GL data is inserted into Siebel production database for company-wide and customer online access. This made the whole invoicing system more structured, automated and aligned to the application. |
